About Me

Jim Pryke
Hey there!
I'm Jim Pryke, a lifelong computer tinkerer from Brandon, Manitoba, who's spent decades helping family, friends, and customers wrangle their tech—probably as much time fixing glitches and getting devices to behave as I have actually using them myself. With a background in psychology (BSc from Brandon University back in '85), a stint in web design certification via freeCodeCamp, and years in everything from network consulting to residential support work, I've always been drawn to tools that make life easier, more connected, and less frustrating for everyone. These days, I'm channeling that into making sense of the digital world one note at a time.
What pulled me into Obsidian? Simple: I craved a "second brain" to capture the flood of info I stumble across daily—articles, ideas, random connections—and actually learn from it, organize it, spot those hidden relationships, and pull it all back up when I need it most. But like so many of us, I started as a total beginner, fumbling through vaults and links, wondering if I'd ever get past the basics without losing a weekend to confusion. I get it because I've been right there: the overwhelm of too many options, the "why won't this connect?!" moments, and that nagging feeling you're missing the simple path forward. That's why I started this channel—even though I'm still learning and tweaking my own setup every week. If sharing those real, no-nonsense steps could spare you the same headaches I hit, it's a win for both of us.
Here, you'll get short, practical videos (usually under 10 minutes) packed with clear, actionable steps—no endless theory or plugin rabbit holes. We're talking hands-on guides like building your first vault that actually works for your life, linking notes to uncover those "aha" connections, or simple templates to track your daily wins without the fuss. My mission? Walk this journey with you, helping you save time, sidestep common pitfalls, and rack up quicker results so you can focus on creating, learning, and thriving—instead of fighting the tool.
I'm committed to dropping at least one fresh video every Wednesday and Friday morning CST, so you can count on steady, bite-sized progress. If you're tired of info overload and ready to make Obsidian your secret weapon, hit subscribe, share your biggest sticking point in the comments, and let's build something awesome together. I'm excited you're here!
P.S. I'll keep updating this page as I grow and learn more (because, trust me, there's always more to uncover), so you can follow my progress—and maybe even laugh at my early fails—right here.
